Baobab Côte d’Ivoire targets African leadership following record 2025 profits
Baobab Côte d’Ivoire has announced ambitious growth targets, aiming to become the leading microfinance institution in Africa by 2027 and one of the continent’s top five financial institutions by 2035.
Celebrating its 15th anniversary in Abidjan, the institution reported a net profit of 10.7 billion CFA francs for the 2025 fiscal year. As of December 2025, the company managed a credit portfolio of 209 billion CFA francs and held 103 billion CFA francs in deposits. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) confirmed these figures, noting that the institution serves over 320,000 clients and holds approximately 29% of the outstanding credit market in Côte d’Ivoire.
Originally established in 2010 as Microcred Côte d’Ivoire before rebranding to Baobab in 2019, the company has expanded its footprint to include 38 agencies and nearly 300 service points across the country. Its services cater to individuals, micro-entrepreneurs, and small businesses, with loan amounts ranging from 100,000 to 700 million CFA francs.
