Bapenda DKI Jakarta building suffers second fire in one month

The Bapenda DKI Jakarta building in Central Jakarta experienced a second fire in less than a month on Friday, August 21, 2026. The incident originated in an archive room on the 11th floor.

Emergency services received the report at 5:10 PM WIB, and firefighting operations began shortly after. Eight fire engines and 30 personnel were deployed to the scene. Firefighters reportedly faced difficulties during the operation because the building's water pumps were non-functional. The fire was fully extinguished by approximately 9:55 PM, and no casualties were reported.

Preliminary investigations by the Central Jakarta Fire Department suggest the fire may have been caused by high temperatures. This event follows a previous major fire at the same location on August 7, 2026, which affected floors 11 through 16. Police have cordoned off the area for further investigation.
