BAPS Swaminarayan Hindu Mandir hosts diplomats from 43 nations

More than 50 UNESCO ambassadors and diplomats representing 43 nations gathered at the newly inaugurated BAPS Swaminarayan Hindu Mandir in Bussy-Saint-Georges for an Indo-French Cultural Open Day. Hosted by the Permanent Delegation of India to UNESCO, the event aimed to celebrate cultural dialogue and the friendship between India and France.

Participants from Europe, Africa, Asia, the Arab States, the Americas, and the Caribbean attended the event, which included a traditional Indian meal and a program detailing the Mandir’s history. Vishal Sharma, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of India to UNESCO, described the temple as a celebration of Indian civilization and Indo-French collaboration, noting it was ‘Made in India, built in France, celebrated by the world.’

A film presented during the program showcased the construction of the Mandir, highlighting the combination of centuries-old Indian craftsmanship with sacred architectural traditions.
