Baptism Site Museum design discussed in Amman

A meeting was held on August 17, 2026, at the St. Ignatius Academy for Knowledge Innovation in Amman to discuss the vision and design for the proposed Baptism Site Museum. The meeting included representatives from the Churches of Jordan, the Chairman of the Board of the Baptism Site Development Fund, Dr. Tharwat Al-Masalkha, and the Director General of the Jordan Museum, Eng. Ihab Amarin.

Curator Dr. Sandor Brooks presented the initial exhibition plan, outlining key thematic axes, narratives, and the layout of the exhibition halls. The goal is to create an integrated museum experience that combines the religious and spiritual dimensions of the site with its historical, archaeological, and cultural significance. Central themes for the museum's narrative identity include ‘the wilderness’, ‘the waters’, and ‘the testimony’, focusing on the baptism of Christ by John the Baptist.
