Bar driver arrested for fleeing after hitting 5‑year‑old child

Police in Bar identified and detained J. P., a 27‑year‑old driver, on the order of the state prosecutor after a hit‑and‑run incident that injured a five‑year‑old child. The accident occurred around 17:00 yesterday on a local road in the Šušanj area, where the child was struck by a Mercedes passenger vehicle and suffered light leg injuries but was not in life‑threatening condition.

Traffic and criminal police units quickly located the driver, who had fled the scene. The prosecutor’s office charged him with endangering public traffic and failing to assist the injured person, and ordered his detention pending further legal proceedings. He is to be presented to the prosecutor today.
