Barabanki police encounter leaves wanted robbery suspect injured

Police in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, engaged in an encounter with a wanted robbery suspect on Saturday night near the Katholia bridge. According to authorities, the suspect, identified as Dalbag, also known as Sonu, attempted to flee on a motorcycle during a routine vehicle check in the Mohammadpur Khala police station area.

After his motorcycle slipped during the escape attempt, the suspect allegedly opened fire on the police team. In the ensuing retaliatory firing, the suspect sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. He was subsequently apprehended and taken to the Fatehpur Community Health Centre for medical treatment.

The suspect, a resident of Sitapur, is wanted in connection with robbery cases registered at both the Mohammadpur Khala and Ramnagar police stations. Police recovered two stolen mobile phones, a pistol, live and empty cartridges, and the motorcycle used in the incident. Investigations revealed that the individual has a prior criminal record involving multiple cases in Sitapur and Barabanki.
