Barack Obama calls for global leadership based on common humanity
Former U.S. President Barack Obama spoke at the sixth edition of the Game Changers Forum in Lisbon, addressing an audience of approximately 10,000 people at the Meo Arena. Obama called for a new era of international leadership characterized by the recognition of a ‘common humanity’ rather than mutual distrust.
He advocated for leaders who represent their own people and respect their traditions while acknowledging that citizens of other nations share similar hopes and dreams. Obama also addressed social dynamics within the United States, criticizing a nostalgia for a ‘real America’ that he described as a time when Black people were silenced and women were relegated to domestic roles.
Furthermore, Obama emphasized the need for a democratic impulse in leadership, the importance of equality, and the creation of new institutions capable of delivering faster results to the public. He also noted the necessity of international regulation for artificial intelligence.
