Barack Obama criticizes Donald Trump at Midwest campaign rallies

Former President Barack Obama held campaign rallies in Cleveland, Ohio, and Detroit, Michigan, on Saturday, October 24, to mobilize Democratic voters ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. During his speeches, Obama accused the Trump administration of corruption, incompetence, and self-enrichment, specifically mocking the $900 million in White House renovations by comparing the gold-heavy aesthetic to a “Cheesecake Factory.”

Obama also criticized the administration’s foreign policy, specifically regarding Iran, and blamed the current leadership for the rising cost of living and fuel prices. In Michigan, he endorsed Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, defending him against Republican attacks that attempt to link the candidate to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Donald Trump responded via Truth Social, calling Obama a “grossly incompetent President” and accusing his administration of enabling Iran’s nuclear program through multi-billion dollar payments. Trump also attacked El-Sayed, labeling him a “fake doctor” and a “jihadist,” while urging voters to support Republican Mike Rogers.
