Baradero woman killed by ex-partner in arson attack

Marcela Adriana Gilbert, a 53-year-old woman, has died following a brutal attack by her former partner in Baradero, Argentina. According to police reports, the 27-year-old suspect, identified by the initials P. R. A. W., broke into Gilbert's residence on Mitre Street, doused her with gasoline, and set her on fire before fleeing on foot.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene after receiving a 911 call regarding a fire. Although Gilbert was conscious when transported to a local hospital, she succumbed to severe burns on her torso and limbs. Following her death, prosecutor Hernán Granda ordered the legal classification of the case to be upgraded from attempted homicide to aggravated homicide (femicide).

Investigations revealed that Gilbert had previously filed reports of gender-based violence against the suspect and was in possession of a panic button. Authorities have apprehended the suspect, and forensic teams are currently reviewing security footage and witness statements to reconstruct the events.
