Baragiano to inaugurate Europe’s largest giant swing

The town of Baragiano in the Potenza province is set to inaugurate ‘Il Volo di Icaro’, which is described as Europe’s largest giant swing. The attraction is scheduled to open on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the local Belvedere.

The installation features heights ranging from 5 to 18 meters, with speeds reaching up to 70 kilometers per hour, offering views of the Marmo Platano valley. The project is part of a broader municipal strategy to boost local tourism by combining adventure activities with the region's historical and landscape heritage, including connections to the nearby Archeoparco del Basileus.

Mayor Giuseppe Galizia stated that the inauguration serves as a moment for community sharing and territorial promotion. The event is expected to be attended by regional authorities, including Basilicata Governor Vito Bardi.
