Barakaldo and Marbella boost local video surveillance networks

The municipality of Barakaldo in Spain has installed a new video‑surveillance system at the Ciudad Deportiva de San Vicente. The upgrade includes two cameras, radar detectors, a recorder and four speakers that are linked directly to the local police. The project cost about €31,400 and is intended to detect unauthorized access when the sports facilities are closed, protecting municipal equipment, said Mayor Amaia del Campo.

In Marbella, the city council has added eight new cameras to its existing network, raising the total to 352 devices across the municipality. The expansion, part of a €4 million investment in fiber‑optic links and surveillance technology, aims to improve traffic monitoring, prevent incidents and support the work of the local police. Councilor José Eduardo Díaz highlighted that the cameras will also aid the new Proximity Police Unit in responding more quickly to neighbourhood concerns and enforcing municipal ordinances.
