Barambah Organics founder and daughter die in Brisbane plane crash
Ian Campbell, the 56-year-old founder of Barambah Organics, and his 23-year-old daughter, Hannah, have died following a light plane crash south of Brisbane. The pair were the only occupants of a Beech A36 Bonanza aircraft that crashed in a paddock in Stockleigh, a suburb of Logan, on Monday.
The aircraft departed from Archerfield Airport shortly after 11:00 a.m. and went down approximately ten minutes later along Musch Road. The impact sparked a large grass fire that required firefighters to spend about an hour bringing it under control. Witnesses reported hearing the aircraft spluttering and flying unusually low, suggesting potential engine issues, before it banked and crashed.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has deployed investigators to the site to gather evidence and recover aircraft components for mechanical and metallurgical analysis in Canberra. The Campbell family were well-known in the Queensland agricultural community and had recently completed the Kokoda Track to raise funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
