Baramulla commuters face railway delays and highway closures

Commuters in the Baramulla region are experiencing significant disruptions to both rail and road transportation.

On the railway network, the morning train to Baramulla has been arriving 30 to 60 minutes late in recent weeks, affecting government employees, healthcare workers, and students. Additionally, the 3:45 pm Baramulla-Banihal service has been suspended. Raghvinder Singh, Public Relations Officer for Railways, Baramulla, stated the suspension is temporary due to maintenance work and that service will resume soon.

Simultaneously, the Baramulla-Uri National Highway faced prolonged closures at Danakha Mode. Although the District Administration ordered a suspension of vehicular movement from 7 am to 5 pm to facilitate hill-cutting and prevent landslides, commuters reported the road remained closed well past the scheduled reopening time, with some vehicles stranded until at least 6:30 pm. This delay impacted students, elderly passengers, and patients traveling between Uri and Baramulla.
