Baran Duman's organ donation provides hope for seven patients
Following a motorcycle accident on August 3, 2026, 21-year-old Baran Duman was treated at Antalya City Hospital. Despite medical interventions, brain death was confirmed on August 12.
In a decision described by hospital officials as an act of humanity, Duman’s family approved the donation of his organs on August 13. The donated organs, which include his heart, liver, two kidneys, pancreas, and two corneas, are scheduled to be transplanted to seven patients currently on organ transplant waiting lists.
Hakkı Ergüden, the Organ and Tissue Transplant Coordinator at Antalya City Hospital, praised the family for choosing to provide hope to others during their period of grief. He emphasized the critical importance of organ donation awareness, noting that many patients lose their lives daily while waiting for compatible organs.
