Barangay Ginebra defeats San Miguel in PBA quarterfinals

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel secured a Game 1 quarterfinal victory over the San Miguel Beermen, highlighted by a strong defensive performance that limited nine-time PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo to 3 points on 1-for-6 shooting.

Ginebra import Jordan Murphy recorded 29 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 blocks. Murphy noted that defending Fajardo requires constant contact and monitoring his presence in the paint to contest rim threats. Other Ginebra players, including Isaac Go, Japeth Aguilar, Troy Rosario, and Norbert Torres, also contributed to the defensive effort.

Following the game, Fajardo attributed San Miguel’s struggles to defensive organization, noting that Ginebra’s ability to hit 16 three-pointers exposed gaps in the Beermen’s scheme. The series continues with Game 2 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
