Barapullah Phase III corridor to open in Delhi on September 29
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to inaugurate the Barapullah Phase III corridor on September 29. The event will also be attended by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and PWD Minister Parvesh Verma.
The project aims to provide signal-free connectivity between Mayur Vihar Phase I in East Delhi and Sarai Kale Khan, extending towards AIIMS and South Delhi. Once integrated with the existing Barapullah corridor, the total length will reach approximately nine kilometers. The infrastructure includes an extra-dosed bridge over the Yamuna and is designed to reduce congestion at Ashram Chowk.
Originally approved in 2014, the project faced significant delays and cost overruns, with the revised cost reaching approximately Rs 1,635 crore. In addition to vehicular movement, the corridor features a dedicated cycle track and pedestrian-friendly infrastructure to promote sustainable mobility.
