Barau FC coach Eugene Agagbe targets higher NPFL honors

Barau FC head coach Eugene Agagbe has expressed ambitions for a more successful campaign in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following a strong start to the season. The Kano-based club, known as the Maliya Boys, opened their second consecutive season in the top flight with a 3-1 victory over Nasarawa United at the Sani Abacha Stadium on August 30.

Agagbe noted that the club’s eighth-place finish last season, where they earned 52 points, provided a foundation of experience. He stated that the lessons learned during their debut season make aiming for greater honors a reasonable goal rather than an overreach.

Barau FC is scheduled to face Kun Khalifat FC at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri. Both clubs earned promotion to the NPFL through the 2024/25 NNL Super 8 playoffs held in Asaba.
