Barbados expands international airlift with Air Canada and British Airways

Barbados is experiencing a significant expansion in international airlift as major carriers increase flight frequencies to the island.

Air Canada has announced it will offer year-round service between Montréal and Bridgetown for the first time in its history. Starting at the end of the 2026/27 winter season, the airline will operate weekly Sunday flights to strengthen connectivity with the Québec market. Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. noted that this milestone is a result of a long-standing partnership aimed at growing the Canadian market.

Simultaneously, British Airways is implementing its largest-ever expansion to Barbados. The airline is introducing a new year-round service from London Gatwick and increasing service from Heathrow. During the 2026-2027 winter season, British Airways expects a 70 percent increase in seats, potentially offering up to three daily flights from London during peak periods. This expansion is projected to add more than 120,000 seats to the island annually.
