Barbados leaders call for improved service and business standards

Barbadian Prime Minister Mia Mottley has called for a formal audit of local telecommunications services following concerns regarding declining service quality and proposed broadband price increases. Mottley highlighted recurring connectivity issues in key areas, such as the ABC Highway, and urged the Fair Trading Commission to investigate service deficiencies to ensure consumer protection.

In a related push for higher quality, Minister of Business Development Kerrie Symmonds warned that unsatisfactory business standards could damage the nation's international competitiveness. Symmonds emphasized that as a small island developing state, Barbados must rely on credibility, efficiency, and high-quality service to compete with larger economies.
