Barbados is mourning the death of Peta Alleyne, a prominent veteran broadcaster, actress, and cultural practitioner, who passed away at the age of 65. Alleyne was a well-known figure in Barbadian media, having worked at Barbados Rediffusion and the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

She was widely recognized for her comedic talent, most notably for her 30-year role as Wilhelmina Herassofat in the production ‘Laff It Off’. Beyond entertainment, Alleyne was deeply involved in cultural preservation through her work with the National Cultural Foundation (NCF), where she participated in oral history programs and contributed to radio dramas and stage adaptations.
