Barbados President launches Chapman Challenge youth initiative

President Jeffrey Bostic has launched the Chapman Challenge, a national youth development initiative under The President’s Trust. The program is designed for individuals aged 10 to 24 and focuses on five core pillars: mentorship, leadership, community service, global citizenship, and health and wellness.

Inspired by the President’s upbringing in the Chapman Lane community, the initiative aims to help young people overcome socio-economic obstacles to reach their full potential. The launch event at the Wildey Gymnasium saw an attendance of approximately 3,200 youth, including 70 children with special needs.

Prime Minister Mia Mottley pledged continued government support for the program. While $800,000 has already been allocated to fund the secretariat and establish the initiative as an institution, Mottley committed to providing additional resources based on student enrollment numbers.
