Trinbago Knight Riders defeat Barbados Tridents in CPL openers

The Trinbago Knight Riders secured a victory over the defending champions, Barbados Tridents, in the opening matches of the 2026 Caribbean Premier League at Kensington Oval.

In the women’s fixture, the Knight Riders defeated the Tridents by 21 runs. After posting 155, the Knight Riders' bowling attack, led by Shikha Pandey’s three wickets and Deandra Dottin’s two, restricted Barbados to 134.

In the men’s contest, the Knight Riders achieved a 35-run win driven by Nicholas Pooran’s 59 and a standout performance by Sunil Narine. Narine claimed four wickets for 12 runs, including crucial early dismissals of Quinton de Kock and Rivaldo Clarke, to bowl out the Tridents for 112. Narine was named Player of the Match for his performance, which included his first career CPL four-wicket haul.
