Barbalha: Three employees hospitalized after consuming suspected poisoned snacks

Three employees of the engineering firm WR Engenharia were hospitalized in Barbalha after consuming savory snacks at a company warehouse on Saturday night. Two of the individuals were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Hospital São Vicente de Paulo in serious condition, with one patient requiring intubation.

The victims have been identified as Carlos Eduardo dos Santos Rodrigues, 24; Joaquim Mendes Parente Junior, 40; and Ednaldo Inácio da Rocha, 20. While two remain in critical condition in the ICU, the third patient is reported to be conscious, oriented, and in stable condition.

According to reports, the snacks were provided by one of the employees, who reportedly works as a delivery person for JM Salgados. Local police and the Homicide Nucleus of Juazeiro do Norte are investigating the incident under suspicion of possible poisoning. A police report has been filed, and the Barbalha Police Station is handling the investigation.
