Barbara Butcher, NYC Death Investigator Calls Drowning the Worst Way to Die

Barbara Butcher spent more than two decades with the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner, investigating over 5,500 deaths, including gruesome crimes, accidental fatalities and cases involving children. In a recent interview for LadBible’s “honesty box,” she explained the role of a death investigator and shared that, for her, the most terrible way to die is drowning, describing the experience as “air hunger, choking, struggling and inhaling water and vomiting.”

Butcher also noted she helped with investigations after the September 11 attacks and said she is not afraid of death, describing her work as a “fun job” and expressing confidence that the universe will explain everything when her own time comes.
