Barbara Eden recalls being rejected by Hollywood casting director
Actress Barbara Eden has recounted a humiliating encounter with a Warner Brothers casting director during her early attempts to break into Hollywood in the 1950s.
Eden stated that the executive told her she was not the 'Hollywood type' and suggested she return home to marry her boyfriend. To illustrate his point, the director reportedly showed her a photograph of his daughter, claiming that specific physical attributes were what the industry required.
Despite the initial rejection, the casting director offered Eden a screen test just five months later. Eden eventually achieved significant fame, most notably starring in the television series 'I Dream of Jeannie' from 1965 to 1970.
