Barbara Forever documentary explores life of filmmaker Barbara Hammer

The documentary ‘Barbara Forever’, directed by Brydie O’Connor, provides a moving tribute to the life and work of legendary avant-garde filmmaker Barbara Hammer. The film utilizes archival footage and vintage audio captured by Hammer herself to create a chronological look at her existence and her impact on queer cinema.

Hammer, who passed away in 2019, was a pioneer in documenting lesbian histories and queer perspectives through film. The documentary avoids traditional tropes like talking head interviews or recreations, instead guiding viewers through her life using her own intimate imagery and recordings.
