Barbara Mori reveals alcoholism and depression during filming of 'Rubi

Actress Barbara Mori, who rose to international fame starring in the 2004 telenovela Rubi, disclosed that she suffered severe depression and alcoholism while shooting the series. She said she would wake up each morning, stand in the Televisa studio dressing room, look at herself in the mirror and begin to cry, seeking solace in alcohol.

Mori explained that despite having fame, wealth and professional success, she felt "completely empty" inside. Over time she recognized the gap between external success and internal happiness, began a process of self‑discovery, and eventually moved away from the environment that had amplified her vulnerability.
