Barbara Mróz-Gorgoń defends AI use in controversial report

Barbara Mróz-Gorgoń, the former government plenipotentiary for the promotion of the Poland brand, has addressed her recent resignation following a controversy surrounding the report ‘Polaków portret własny’ (A Portrait of Poles). In an interview with TVN24, she clarified that the document in question was a draft and a working material that was mistakenly published on a think tank website in December 2025.

Addressing allegations regarding the use of artificial intelligence, Mróz-Gorgoń stated that AI was used solely for linguistic purposes, such as stylistic improvements, transcriptions, and summaries, rather than generating the core findings. She maintained that the conclusions were original and based on documented research involving over 100 witnesses.

Mróz-Gorgoń also spoke about the personal toll of the scandal, describing a wave of online hate and a physical confrontation at a gas station. Both she and the Ministry of Sport and Tourism have stated that the published report was not part of an official government contract or order.
