Barbara Mróz-Gorgoń misses EFNI panel following AI report controversy
Barbara Mróz-Gorgoń, the former government plenipotentiary for the promotion of the Poland brand, did not appear at the European Forum of New Ideas (EFNI) in Sopot. Her absence from the panel titled ‘How to promote the Poland brand’ was attributed to the stress following a recent controversy involving a report titled ‘Polaków Portret Własny. Raport z badań DNA marki Polska’.
Experts alleged the report contained significant linguistic errors, questionable theses, and unreliable citations, suggesting the content may have been generated by artificial intelligence. Mróz-Gorgoń clarified in an interview that the document was a ‘draft’ mistakenly published by a think tank and that it was indeed created using AI. She denied that taxpayers funded these specific notes, stating that the approximately 180,000 PLN mentioned in the controversy was allocated to the ‘Strategia Marka Polska’ project instead.
Henryka Bochniarz, president of Konfederacja Lewiatan, commented on the situation, noting the intense online backlash and the emotional toll on Mróz-Gorgoń. Bochniarz also highlighted the scale of spending on Polish brand promotion, noting that approximately 1 billion PLN is spent annually on various forms of national image promotion.
