Barbara Pozzobon claims bronze in 5 km at European swimming champs in Paris

Italian open‑water swimmer Barbara Pozzobon secured the bronze medal in the 5 km race at the European Swimming Championships held in Paris. The result marks a successful shift to the shorter distance for the 32‑year‑old, who previously excelled in longer events, including a gold medal in the 25 km at the 2024 European Championships in Belgrade and a world title in the 6 km team event in Fukuoka.

Pozzobon, a member of the Fiamme Oro sports group, said the medal reflected her renewed enjoyment of competition after missing Olympic selection in the 10 km event two years earlier. The race also saw fellow Italian Ginevra Taddeucci win gold, underscoring a strong performance by the Italian team at the championships.
