Barbra Streisand criticizes Donald Trump over Kennedy Center dispute

Barbra Streisand has criticized Donald Trump regarding an escalating dispute over the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. The singer and actress accused the president of allowing his “unchecked ego” to impact the celebrated arts institution during a struggle over whether his name should be displayed at the venue.

The controversy intensified following warnings from Mr. Trump that the center could be “ripped down.” In response to the tension, federal judge Christopher Cooper ordered that the government must provide at least 30 days’ notice before making any major physical changes to the building, including potential demolition, to avoid confusion.

Streisand, a 2008 Kennedy Center Honoree, noted that the institution was established by Congress as a living memorial to President John F. Kennedy following his assassination. She expressed indignation that the site, which she views as a symbol of the importance of art to democracy, has become the subject of a “bitter struggle over one man’s name.”
