Barbra Streisand's musical legacy celebrated in Australia and Argentina

The musical legacy of Barbra Streisand is being highlighted through different cultural lenses in Australia and Argentina.

In Australia, the production ‘Simply Streisand’ will perform at the Frankston Arts Centre as part of the Daytime Music & Theatre series on November 16. Starring Australian performer Queenie van de Zandt, the show serves as a tribute to Streisand’s career, featuring classic songs such as ‘The Way We Were’, ‘People’, and ‘Evergreen’. The performance aims to explore themes of artistic courage and the personal connections between the performer and her musical inspiration.

In Argentina, the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba is hosting a special program titled ‘Clásica & Universitaria’ focused on Streisand’s foray into classical music. The program examines her 1976 album ‘Classical Barbra’, which featured works by composers such as Debussy, Fauré, and Handel accompanied by the Columbia Symphony Orchestra. The broadcast explores the intersection of popular music and classical repertoire through Streisand’s unique vocal style.
