BARC publishes 2026 Data Sovereignty survey findings
BARC released its 2026 Data Sovereignty survey, analysing responses from 320 organisations worldwide. The study shows that data sovereignty has evolved from a compliance requirement to a strategic condition for managing data‑ and AI‑driven processes at acceptable risk.
Key points include six headline findings, a widening transatlantic sovereignty gap, a shift toward security‑first cloud rebalancing, and the identification of an ambition‑execution gap. The report also outlines the roadmap for organisations to address people, technical, and regulatory hurdles.
The full survey is available to BARC+ subscribers for a monthly or annual fee, providing access to premium research, software comparison studies and other data‑analytics insights.
