Barcarena students honored for international mathematics success

Copernicus Olympiad mathematics competition Barcarena gastronomy festival student awards

The municipality of Barcarena honored three students for their achievements in the Copernicus Olympiad – Global Round 2026, held in New York. The ceremony took place during the Pineapple Festival's culinary competition.

Twelve-year-old Manuela Bentes Amorim Luzia earned a gold medal in Category II, marking an unprecedented achievement for the municipality. Additionally, Maite Bentes Amorim Luzia, 16, and Ana Beatriz Martins Diepenbruck, 12, received Honorable Mentions for their performances representing Brazil on the international stage.
