Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto investigation into death of medical resident

Authorities in Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto have launched an investigation into the death of Jasmine Chowdhury, a 31-year-old medical resident from Palermo who was training at the Policlinico di Messina.

Chowdhury was found lifeless in her home on October 2. Investigators are currently looking into the possibility of an opioid overdose. A 29-year-old man from Brindisi, who was living with the victim, has been placed under investigation. While fentanyl was a subject of interest, it was not among the substances seized at the scene; instead, police recovered morphine, midazolam, and levometadone.

Technical examinations, including the forensic analysis of mobile phones and upcoming autopsy and toxicology results, are expected to clarify the exact cause of death and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
