Barcelona-Amsterdam route named Europe's most stressful flight path

An analysis by AirAdvisor has identified the flight route between Barcelona El Prat and Amsterdam Schiphol as the most stressful in Europe for passengers, particularly those with a fear of flying. The study evaluated 26 major European routes based on factors such as flight delays, cancellations, weather conditions, and travel duration, rather than flight safety or turbulence.

Between September 2025 and August 2026, the Barcelona-Amsterdam route recorded a stress score of 75.1 out of 100. During this period, 7.02% of flights were delayed by more than one hour, 0.83% were delayed by more than three hours, and 2.93% were cancelled. Variable weather conditions in Amsterdam were also cited as a contributing factor to passenger anxiety.

The London Heathrow to Amsterdam route ranked second with 63.8 points, notably featuring the highest cancellation rate at 3.69%. The Manchester to Dublin route followed in third place, with 7.51% of flights experiencing delays exceeding one hour. Other routes appearing in the top ten include Lisbon-Madeira, Paris Charles de Gaulle-Nice, Oslo-Stavanger, Barcelona-Rome Fiumicino, London Heathrow-Frankfurt, Oslo-Trondheim, and Madrid-London Heathrow.
