Barcelona and Real Madrid plan summer transfer upgrades
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford could remain at Barcelona after a hamstring injury sidelined fellow winger Raphinha. Rashford, who spent a successful loan spell scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists, was not bought permanently for the £26 million option. With Raphinha’s recovery in doubt, club officials are considering a short‑term deal to keep Rashford for another season.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid coach José Mourinho is urging the club to strengthen the squad further despite already signing four new players. He has asked for additional signings including a central defender, a midfielder and a winger, with names such as Nico Schlotterbeck, Enzo Fernández and Michael Olise mentioned. Mourinho also floated the idea of adding a target‑man striker like Joselu, while the club continues to evaluate the status of academy forward Gonzalo García.
Both Spanish giants are active in the summer transfer market, aiming to bolster their attacking options and address squad depth ahead of the 2026/27 season.
