Barcelona becomes Europe's only perfect league team

Barcelona has become the only club across Europe’s top five domestic leagues to maintain a 100 per cent winning record in the 2026/2027 season. Following Manchester City’s first defeat of the campaign at the hands of Aston Villa, the Catalan side remains the sole team in England, Spain, Italy, Germany, and France to have won all of their league matches.

Under head coach Hansi Flick, Barcelona has secured nine victories from nine La Liga matches, earning a maximum of 27 points. This performance matches Real Madrid’s record for the best start to a Spanish league season. The team has demonstrated significant attacking strength, scoring 39 goals and conceding nine in their opening nine fixtures, including a recent 5-2 victory over Real Betis.

In the English Premier League, Manchester City’s perfect start ended with a 2-1 loss to Aston Villa. Nicolas Jackson scored both goals for Villa, while Erling Haaland provided the lone equaliser for City.
