Barcelona City Council opens proceeding against Vox leader
The Barcelona City Council has opened an information proceeding against Gonzalo de Oro, the president of the Vox municipal group, regarding the “improper use” of the City Hall balcony.
The incident occurred on September 2 during two opposing demonstrations concerning Ceuta held in Plaça de Sant Jaume. De Oro, accompanied by Catalan Parliament deputy Joan Garriga, appeared on the balcony displaying signs with the flags of Ceuta and Spain.
The decision to open the proceeding was supported by other municipal groups, including the PP. During the protests, Mossos d’Esquadra officers were deployed to separate the two opposing groups: a “Por Ceuta” demonstration involving approximately 1,500 people and an anti-racist gathering of about 700 participants.
