Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo to rejoin first team post‑injury

Uruguayan centre‑back Ronald Araujo, 27, has completed rehabilitation from a calf injury that kept him out of the 2026 World Cup and Barcelona’s recent matches. He returned to the club’s training complex this week and will begin pre‑season work under head coach Hansi Flick.

Araujo, whose contract runs until June 2031, is looking to regain a spot in the starting eleven. He will compete with existing defenders Pau Cubarsí, Gerard Martín, Eric García and newly‑signed Andreas Christensen, while the club also eyes the possible addition of a left‑footed centre‑back or right‑back Joao Cancelo.

The defender aims to impress in the upcoming pre‑season fixtures and secure his place in Flick’s defensive setup as Barcelona prepares for the new campaign.
