Barcelona defers 22.3 million euro payment to Newcastle for Anthony Gordon

Barcelona has reached an agreement with Newcastle United to defer a significant installment regarding the transfer of Anthony Gordon. The deal, which saw Gordon move to the Spanish club, originally required a payment of approximately 22.3 million euros by July 31, 2026.

Under the revised terms, this payment has been postponed until 2027. While this delay does not change the total transfer value—estimated at 70 million euros plus potential bonuses—it provides Barcelona with additional liquidity to manage its existing financial obligations and transfer debts.

Barcelona's financial reports indicate the club is managing substantial short-term liabilities. The deferment allows the Catalan club more time to navigate its current economic situation while maintaining its recent summer recruitment strategy.
