Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny says training has become increasingly painful
Wojciech Szczesny, the 36‑year‑old Polish goalkeeper for Barcelona, told Polish television that aging is catching up with him. He said each training session now feels "more painful" and demands far more mental and physical energy, and that simply getting out of bed has become harder.
Szczesny framed the difficulty as a daily challenge he still embraces, noting that he can still feel satisfaction after a session. He highlighted the youthful atmosphere in the Barcelona dressing room and his role as a leader despite the uncertainty surrounding his contract, which runs until 2027, and competition from Marc‑Andre ter Stegen and younger keepers.
