Barcelona International Boat Show opens with new industry features
The Barcelona International Boat Show is currently being held at Port Vell from October 14 to 18. Organized by Fira Barcelona with support from ANEN, the event is recognized as the fourth most important nautical gathering in Europe, following Dusseldorf, Cannes, and Genoa.
This edition features several updates, including the Ágora Port space, which has transitioned from traditional conferences to a debate-style format involving industry stakeholders and the public. Other new features include the Innovation Dock and a new covered pavilion for various nautical companies.
During the event, Ports de Catalunya, Tarragona Impulsa, and the Nautical-Fishery Training School of Catalonia introduced a new training program for Marina Workers. This 347-hour course, which is fully subsidized by the Public Employment Service of Catalonia (SOC), aims to meet the rising demand for qualified personnel in Catalan marinas. The program, scheduled to run from February to May 2027 in Tarragona, covers vessel maneuvering, mooring, and port machinery operation, providing students with STCW basic maritime safety certification.
