CD Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel dies after match collision

Jesús de Miguel, a 30-year-old striker for CD Tenerife, died on Tuesday, November 3, following a violent collision during a Spanish second-division match against FC Andorra. The incident occurred in the final minutes of the game at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium when De Miguel collided with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono while disputing a ball.

De Miguel suffered a cardiac arrest following the impact, which reportedly involved a blow to his chest or head. Although medical personnel successfully resuscitated him on the pitch and during ambulance transport to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, his condition deteriorated, and he passed away in intensive care.

The match was abandoned in the 96th minute with the score tied at 2-2. Following the tragedy, Spanish National Police have opened an investigation into the incident for possible involuntary manslaughter. In response to the death, UEFA announced it will observe a minute of silence during all European fixtures this week, and CD Tenerife has scheduled a public memorial service at their stadium for Saturday.
