Collserola forest fire: Suspect detained in Barcelona

A person has been detained by the Barcelona Guàrdia Urbana in connection with a forest fire in the Collserola Natural Park. The individual was located near the suspected origin of the blaze in the Sant Pere Màrtir mountain area, close to the carretera de les Aigües.

The fire, which broke out on Friday afternoon, burned approximately 10 hectares of shrubs and trees. Emergency services, including around thirty firefighting units and aerial support, worked to contain the flames. Authorities have since stabilized the fire, though some minor secondary spots remained active for a short period.

As a precaution, the city of Esplugues de Llobregat evacuated the Espai Mireia restaurant, and residents in the Can Caralleu neighborhood were placed under preventive confinement. These emergency measures have since been lifted. The Agentes Rurals and Mossos d'Esquadra are conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause and the specific responsibility of the detainee.
