Spain and France set for World Cup semifinal in Dallas
Barcelona president Joan Laporta flew to Dallas to watch the World Cup 2026 semifinal between Spain and France and to back the Spanish side. He told reporters he came “to support the Spanish national team against France, a difficult match” and praised the form of fellow Barça player Lamine Yamal. Laporta used the occasion to update on several transfer targets: he confirmed that “we are very excited about Adeyemi – we’ve liked him for a while, he’s dangerous and fast, and Deco handled the signing very well,” and he insisted “Raphinha will stay. We have no interest in him leaving Barça; he’s a key player.” Regarding Julian Álvarez, he said “we will not dance to anyone’s music; we’ll set the pace,” adding that Barcelona has made a “non‑unlimited offer” that remains on the table.
France’s squad arrived in Dallas the day before, with goalkeeper Mike Maignan and forward Kylian Mbappé highlighted. Defender Jules Koundé downplayed teammate Lamine Yamal’s pre‑match comments, saying they were “motivational” and not disrespectful. The semifinal is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET at AT&T Stadium, with both teams hoping to book a place in the final.
