Barcelona SC appoints Pablo Trobbiani as new head coach

Barcelona Sporting Club has officially appointed Pablo Trobbiani as its new head coach for the remainder of the 2026 LigaPro Serie A season. Trobbiani, an Argentine manager, succeeds César Farías following a period of poor results that left the club in fifth place, more than 20 points behind league leaders Independiente del Valle.

Trobbiani has previous experience with the club, having served in interim and assistant roles in 2023 and 2025. His official debut as head coach is scheduled against Mushuc Runa.

In player news, Argentine striker Darío Benedetto is expected to remain with the club to fulfill his contract through the end of 2026, despite previous uncertainty regarding his future. Additionally, the club faces a setback in the Copa Ecuador after a decision by the FEF resulted in their elimination.
