Barcelona SC draws with Universidad Católica in LigaPro

Barcelona SC played to a 1-1 draw against Universidad Católica at the Estadio Monumental in Guayaquil on October 18, 2026. The equalizer was scored by Erick Mendoza in the 95th minute, following an initial goal by Panamanian player Azarías Londoño for Universidad Católica.

The result leaves Barcelona SC in last place in the LigaPro championship hexagonal, with 44 points. The team is currently eight points behind Liga de Quito, who holds the third position required to qualify for the Copa Libertadores preliminary phase. While Barcelona SC has secured a spot in the Copa Sudamericana, their chances of reaching the Copa Libertadores are diminishing.

The club is currently experiencing a four-match winless streak, with their last victory occurring on September 2. The draw has intensified pressure on manager Pablo Trobbiani amid ongoing criticism from supporters.
