Barcelona close to signing Racing Santander defender Jorge Salinas

Barcelona are in the final stages of a deal for 19‑year‑old Jorge Salinas, a left‑footed defender who can operate as a left‑back or centre‑back for Racing Santander. The club plans to register him directly with the first team, adding competition for Alejandro Balde and Joao Cancelo ahead of the new season.

Salinas’ release clause is set at €8 million, but will increase to €16 million on 1 July after Racing’s promotion to La Liga. Barcelona’s sporting director Deco sees the player as a long‑term investment, noting his technical fit with the club’s style and his versatility. Several other clubs, including Newcastle United, Paris Saint‑Germain, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and others, have shown interest, but Barcelona aim to finalize the transfer before the 30 June deadline.
