Barcelona Supercomputing Center to expand MareNostrum 5 for AI

The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) is set to expand its MareNostrum 5 supercomputer to bolster artificial intelligence activities. The expansion project has been awarded a budget of 129 million euros.

Funding for the project is split equally between the European High Performance Computing organization and a partnership involving Spain, Portugal, and Turkey. Spain's contribution amounts to 60 million euros.
